Wragge & Co Pensions team celebrates 35 years of quality pensions advice

08.12.09

Wragge & Co LLP's Pensions team is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Founded in 1974 by retired partner Gerald Hingley, it has grown to include 40 specialist pension lawyers. The team, which now advises in relation to more than 10 £1 billion plus schemes, has become a leading name in pensions law.

Head of pensions Glyn Ryland said: "We believe our success is based on the simple fact that we're in it with our clients; working hard to support employers and trustees run their pensions arrangements properly and efficiently to deliver the right benefits at the right cost. We give clear, practical and relevant advice. It is what our clients tell us they want and it is what we are most proud of."

The team marked its 35th year with a string of new client appointments, including the trustees of £600 million KPMG UK pension schemes and the trustees of the newly merged £1.05 billion G4S pension scheme. With equalisation issues still top of the agenda, dedicated pensions disputes experts have been involved in landmark judgments, such as the Foster Wheeler case.

Led by six partners, the team works with trustee and employer clients, as well as industry bodies including the Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund. Providing clients with creative, clear and commercially-focused advice, it advises on everything from pension scheme demergers and management buyouts to joint ventures and rationalisation and consolidation periods.
